Located in Sam-ed Building, Sukhumvit 31, just a few mins from the BTS, Prompong Skytrain Station. The restaurant originally founded in Colombo in 2011 and known as Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list from 2015 to 2019. The restaurant claimed the 35th position in the 2019 edition of the awards, which marked it as No.1 in all of Sri Lanka.
Founded by celebrated chef Dharshan Munidasa and cricket legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, the Ministry of Crab quickly earned a reputation as Sri Lanka’s most sought-after restaurant for its delectable Mud Crabs and King Prawns.
The two-storey restaurant offers casual dining experience amid a colonial-style. The ground floor with an opened kitchen where you can seeing all chefs busy hands preparing their top-quality crab and prawn.
Inspired by the classic, Dharshan created this version as he feels that the main ingredient in “Baked Crab” should be crab – succulent and rich…very tasty indeed!
Diners can enjoy Ministry of Crab’s signature Mud Crab in portions ranging from half-kilo to the two-kilogram, larger-than-life Crabzilla, prepared in a variety of mouthwatering ways.
From classic Pepper Crab to the unique Garlic Chilli Crab. Great flavors here with black pepper & spices for a very meaty generous crab servings.
Big prawn 150 g with Galic Chilli
Prawn also has its share of the spotlight, available starting from a half-dozen batch of black tiger prawns up to the 600g Prawnzilla. For those craving something different, the menu also offers options like Chicken Curry Rice, Oyster Sixers and Clams.
Crab liver pate (20 g) – Creamy, decadent treat that served with Melba toast. Limited quantities are available daily. Try also some of the Kade wood-fired bread as a starter or to go along with the pate & baked crab….delicious!
You can also try some of their Chicken’s specials…teriyaki or with curries & rice.
A must try to complete the meal …coconut creme brulee…super tasty and flamed at the table!
Ministry of Crab has done a great job of getting daily fresh super-premium products for the clients. The service team is very active, friendly, it is an overall great dining experience, especially if you are into premium quality crabs.
